Experienced Freight Forwarder (RoRo Specialist)
Belfast City Centre

Brook Street Recruitment is delighted to be working on behalf of our client, a well-established logistics and freight organisation based in Belfast City Centre, to recruit an experienced Freight Forwarder with strong Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) shipping experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for a freight professional who has experience managing the movement of wheeled cargo, including trailers, trucks, vehicles and heavy machinery, and who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.

The Role

As a Freight Forwarder, you will be responsible for coordinating the efficient movement of RoRo freight across UK and European routes, ensuring shipments are managed from booking through to final delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Managing RoRo freight bookings and coordinating vessel schedules.

Negotiating rates with shipping lines and securing vessel space.

Planning cost-effective and efficient transport solutions.

Preparing and checking all shipping documentation, customs declarations and manifests.

Acting as the main point of contact for customers, shipping lines, port operators and haulage providers.

Coordinating the movement of out-of-gauge (OOG) cargo and heavy machinery shipments.

Monitoring shipment progress and providing proactive updates to customers.

Managing Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation and resolving operational issues or delays.

Ensuring compliance with customs procedures and industry regulations.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous experience within freight forwarding, shipping or logistics.

Strong knowledge of RoRo operations and wheeled cargo movements.

Experience working with shipping lines, ferry operators or European road freight networks.

Good understanding of customs procedures and import/export documentation.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.

Experience using freight forwarding or Transport Management Systems (TMS).
