Howden, East Yorkshire (DN14)

£32,000 - £47,000 + Excellent Benefits

We are currently recruiting for a Resident Forklift Engineer to join one of our established clients based in Howden (DN14).

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected organisation offering a competitive salary of £32,000 - £47,000, depending on experience, along with an attractive benefits package and long-term career prospects.

The role is available on either a 40-hour or 42-hour working week, Monday to Friday.

The Role

As a Resident Engineer, you will be based full-time at a customer site, taking responsibility for the servicing, maintenance and repair of a fleet of forklift trucks and material handling equipment.

You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime and maintaining high levels of operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across the fleet.

Perform reactive maintenance and breakdown repairs.

Update maintenance schedules and service records using the CMMS system.

Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

Liaise closely with customer stakeholders regarding breakdowns, fleet availability and reliability.

Deliver exceptional customer service and build strong working relationships on-site.

Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.

About You

To be considered for the upper end of the salary range, you will ideally have direct experience working on forklift trucks or material handling equipment.

Essential Requirements

Strong mechanical engineering and fault-finding skills.

Experience working on motorised vehicles or mobile equipment.

Good understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

Computer literate with experience updating service records and maintenance systems.

Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Maintenance or a related discipline.

Previous experience within forklift trucks or material handling equipment.
