Food Technician
Pertemps are actively looking for a Food Technician to join a busy client based in Reading!
As a Food Technician, you will be responsible for:
- performing sample preparation and processes, using basic lab equipment and small-scale food production kits, under the supervision of a more senior staff member
- overseeing the experimental workspace, adhering to all food safety and quality policies
- ensuring the effective organization of your workload, the integrity of the data generated and the timely and accurate reporting of results, highlighting where unexpected results were observed
- preparing, operating and maintaining the equipment and ingredients for the efficient and effective operation of the experimental workspace
- working to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that food safety and quality policies are adhered to including risk assessments, SOPs, HACCP and good manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate for this Food Technician role would possess the following:
- educated to Degree / HNC level in a relevant scientific discipline
- good understanding of relevant process/product technology. Able to demonstrate experience of practical application of theory in food or engineering/scientific related discipline.
- accountable, honest, hardworking and able to work efficiently in a team
- flexible and adaptable to meet customer/business requirements.
- meticulous attention to detail and an ability to follow written instructions
- good written and verbal communication skills.
- self motivated, enthusiastic and quick to learn.
- well organized and capable of working on multiple activities concurrently.
- computer literate in standard MS office applications
QEHS
- work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are understood and followed.
- to complete assigned quality actions in a timely manner.
- assist with the documentation of SOPs for simple equipment and tests and generation of Risk Assessments and COSHH.
- to maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
- to understand and work to the requirements of GMP and HACCP.
- ensure training records are accurate.
Previous Experience
- experience of working with applying your scientific understanding to experiment planning (formulating hypotheses) and analysis of results (validation of results against hypothesis) - Preferred
- scientific understanding and ability to conduct practical trials in relevant area under supervision - Required
- experience of working with bench-top experimental work plans and trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements - Preferred
