Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Yard Operative to join our client’s team at their bustling and growing merchants. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar environment and hold a valid Forklift Truck (FLT) license. This role involves maintaining the yard, assisting customers, and ensuring the safe and efficient handling of materials.
Hours: Monday to Friday 7:30am – 5pm
Hourly Pay: £11.44
Temporary role with potential to become permanent.
Key Responsibilities:
Loading and unloading goods from delivery vehicles using the forklift truck. Ensure all materials are stored safely and correctly in a timely manner
Assisting customers with locating and loading materials, providing excellent service and support to ensure a positive experience
Keep accurate records of stock movements. Conduct regular stock checks and report discrepancies, and safeguarding against loss/theft
Ensure the yard is kept clean, tidy, and free from hazards. Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any safety concerns to the Yard Manager
Work closely with other team members to support the smooth operation of the yard and the wider businessThe Ideal Candidate:
Must have a valid FLT license
Previous experience in a yard operative role, preferably within a merchants or similar environment would be helpful but not essential
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy materials
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
Have strong attention to detail-, with the ability to maintain accurate records and follow company procedures
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment
