Apple Recruitment are recruiting for a Fleet Manager on behalf of the NI Ambulance Service.

Job Purpose:

The Fleet Manager will be the in-house expert for the Trust’s vehicle fleet, Vehicle based equipment and Trust staff uniforms. The post holder will be required to collaborate widely with stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards and guidance.

Job Description:

* Be responsible to the Director of Finance for the delivery of a quality service in transport, staff uniform and patient lifting and handling equipment provision.

* Responsible for the planning, deployment and allocation of high value fleet resources regionally in such a way as to secure optimal performance and the achievement of section's financial and operational targets.

* Responsible for the regional deployment of Patient Lifting & Handling equipment to meet operational demand.

* Responsible for the management, allocation and availability of staff uniforms on a 24/7 basis. Ensure both local and regional stock levels are maintained minimising staff downtime through uniform supply.

* To manage all projects in relation to Fleet, patient handling & lifting equipment and uniform using project planning techniques.

* The effective and efficient procurement of vehicles, Uniform and patient lifting and handling equipment, within allocated budget limits.

* Lead on the Trust's strategy to transition to a net zero vehicle fleet. Identify emerging environmental and sustainable solutions suitable for the transport requirements of the Trust.

* Be responsible for the effective and efficient day to day deployment and management of staff and resources within the fleet Department including the in­ house fleet workshop operation.

* Effective deployment, management and monitoring of external suppliers and sub­ contractors as necessary to represent the interests of NIAS and ensuring Value for money.

* Be responsible for oversight of all scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance for vehicles and patient lifting and handling equipment regionally.

* Lead and be responsible for the vehicle fleet, plant, patient lifting and handling equipment meeting all statutory requirements and applicable national or European standards

* Ensure uniform procured by the Trust is from ethical and sustainable sources

* Be required to manage and monitor all relevant fleet, equipment & uniform contracts, including clinical waste, domestic waste and confidential waste, with significant financial responsibility.

* Lead on all technical training requirements for fleet and patient lifting and handling equipment.

Essential Criteria:

Applicants must, by the closing date for applications, have:

Ideally no more than 6-8 criteria in this section

1. The post holder is required to have highly developed specialist knowledge and practical experience acquired through a combination of in-depth experience and academic qualifications.

2. Have a recognised professional qualification or equivalent, in a related discipline such as Fleet / Transport Management. AND a minimum of 5 years Management experience in a transport or fleet environment as Fleet Manager for a specialist large Fleet, (i.e. in excess of 350 vehicles).

3. Experience in managing specialist vehicles and equipment including procurement and maintenance programmes.

4. Hold full membership of an engineering­ based institute at member level or higher such as the Institute of the Motor Industry or Society of Operational Engineers (SOE)

5. Hold a current Certificate of Professional Competence in Transport management.

6. A significant track record of achievement I as a leader and senior manager in a large complex organisation.

7. Significant experience of fleet management and associated procurement in a fleet of at least 350 vehicles in a complex changing environment

8. Significant experience of budget planning, financial management and resource management processes, including capital planning

9. Experience of managing and working collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders, as relevant to this role.

10. Auditing, presenting outcomes in reports and producing action plans.

11. Implementing change to existing practices across an organisation.

12. Negotiating with external consultants and/or contractors, exchanging specialist information.

13. Managing projects.

14. Developing organisational policies and procedures.

Further Details:

· Hourly Rate: Band 7 - £22.37

· Duration: 6 months

. Hours: 37.5 hours per week
