About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Fleet Maintenance Control Manager to oversee and coordinate the maintenance operations of a large commercial vehicle fleet. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual with strong technical knowledge, leadership ability, and organisational skills to join a fast-paced and growing operation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum fleet uptime, managing maintenance schedules, controlling workshop activity, and ensuring all vehicles remain compliant with legal and company standards.

The main purpose of the role is to lead and manage the activity of monitoring and controlling the daily M&R spend across all revenue streams. 

Using data and necessary KPI’s, determine strategies for helping the business reduce its overall M&R spend as % of revenue through continuous improvement activities, technical solutions

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily fleet maintenance operations across HGV/LCV, or municipal vehicle fleets
Coordinate servicing, inspections, MOT preparation, and repair schedules
Ensure all vehicles comply with DVSA, operator licence, and health & safety regulations
Monitor fleet downtime and implement strategies to improve vehicle availability
Liaise with workshop teams, mobile technicians, suppliers, and external contractors
Oversee defect reporting systems and maintenance documentation
Manage job allocation, workshop planning, and maintenance priorities
Support breakdown coordination and emergency repair management
Monitor maintenance costs, parts usage, and supplier performance
Ensure all maintenance records are completed accurately and maintained to audit standards
Lead and support technicians, supervisors, and maintenance controllers
Drive continuous improvement across fleet maintenance operationsRequirements

Previous experience in a Fleet Maintenance Manager, Workshop Controller, Fleet Controller, or similar role
Strong technical background in HGV, PSV, LCV, or municipal vehicle maintenance
Good understanding of DVSA compliance, PMI schedules, MOT standards, and operator licence requirements
Experience managing workshop operations and maintenance planning systems
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong leadership and team management abilities
Computer literate with experience using fleet management or workshop systems
IRTEC, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent mechanical qualification desirableBenefits
