The Role:
We are looking for a hands-on, multi-skilled Fitter to join our busy Assembly Team on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for the final assembly and fit-out of heavy steel fuel tanks and bowsers to exacting specifications.
Your day-to-day will include:
Mechanical Assembly: Fitting components, sub-assemblies, and hardware to steel fabrications.
Electrical Installation: Wiring and terminating single and three-phase ancillary systems (pumps, motors, control panels, lighting).
Plumbing & Pipefitting: Installing fuel lines, valves, and pipework – this is a critical requirement for this role.
Testing & Inspection: Pressure testing, electrical continuity testing, and final quality inspections to ensure "right-first-time" quality.
Problem-Solving: Interpreting engineering drawings to resolve fitment issues on the fly.
Your hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (30-min lunch two breaks). Flexibility to work overtime during busy periods is essential.
About You:
You are a time-served fitter or have significant experience in a heavy engineering, agricultural, plant, or automotive assembly environment. You are comfortable working with large steel structures and thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Mechanical: Proven background in mechanical assembly and fitting of heavy components.
Electrical: Competent working with single-phase and three-phase electrical systems (wiring, fault-finding, and terminating).
Plumbing/Pipefitting: Experience with threaded pipework, compression fittings, and fuel/oil lines.
Full UK Driving Licence and own transport (due to our location).
Strong awareness of Health & Safety practices in a workshop environment.
Desirable (but not essential):
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and schematics.
Computer-literate (MS Office) for recording job completions and test results.
Experience with fuel systems or ATEX-rated equipment.
FLT or Overhead Crane licence
