Fitter Welder – Scrap Yard – Nights
Location: Tipton, DY4
Pay: £17.00 per hour
Ongoing Contract
Hours: Monday to Friday, 5:30pm – 2:00am
We are recruiting an experienced Fitter Welder for an ongoing contract at a busy scrap metal recycling site in Tipton.
This is a hands-on role involving the fitting, maintenance, repair and welding of scrap processing machinery and heavy plant. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a scrap yard, recycling plant, waste processing, heavy industry or a similar environment.
The Role
* Carry out mechanical fitting, maintenance and repairs.
* Weld and fabricate machinery, components and structures.
* Maintain and repair scrap processing equipment, including shredders, conveyors, balers, crushers and associated plant.
* Respond to machinery breakdowns and carry out fault-finding.
* Complete planned maintenance and routine inspections.
* Assist with mobile and heavy plant maintenance.
* Replace and repair worn or damaged components.
* Identify mechanical faults and carry out practical repairs.
* Safely isolate machinery before maintenance work.
* Maintain tools, equipment and work areas.
* Follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
The Candidate
We are looking for a practical Fitter Welder with:
* Previous mechanical fitting or maintenance experience.
* Good welding and fabrication skills.
* Experience working with heavy industrial machinery or plant.
* Practical experience repairing machinery and equipment.
* Good mechanical fault-finding ability.
* A reliable and professional approach to work.
* Good Health & Safety awareness.
This is an ongoing indefinite temporary contract
