Description:

Fawkes & Reece are currently working with a leading shopfitting contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Fit Out Manager for a new gym project in Llanishen, Cardiff.

The project is due to commence in October 2026 and is expected to run for approximately 10-12 weeks. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fit Out Manager with a strong commercial fit-out or shopfitting background to join an established contractor and play a key role in delivering a high-quality project.

Key Responsibilities

As Fit Out Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and successful delivery of the project, including:

Managing the fit-out works from commencement through to completion and handover.
Coordinating subcontractors, trades and site personnel.
Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.
Managing the site programme and coordinating multiple trades and activities.
Liaising with the Project Manager, client, consultants and subcontractors.
Monitoring progress and addressing any issues that may affect programme or quality.
Ensuring all works comply with relevant health & safety legislation and company procedures.
Conducting regular site inspections and ensuring quality standards are maintained.
Managing snagging and ensuring the project is completed to the required standard.
Attending site meetings and providing regular progress updates.
Maintaining accurate site records, reports and relevant project documentation.

Experience & Qualifications Required

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Proven experience as a Fit Out Manager, Site Manager or similar, preferably within the shopfitting, retail, leisure, hospitality or commercial fit-out sectors.
Experience managing fast-paced interior fit-out projects from start to completion.
Previous experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing and programme management.
Good understanding of health & safety requirements within a construction environment.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage a project effectively.
A strong eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality finishes.
SMSTS or equivalent site management qualification.
CSCS qualification/card appropriate to the role.
First Aid at Work would be advantageous.
A relevant construction qualification such as NVQ Level 6 Construction Site Management, HNC/HND or equivalent would be desirable.
