Description:

Our client is a leading fire safety consultancy experiencing significant growth across the UK. Due to an expanding portfolio of projects, they are seeking a skilled Fire Surveyor to support the delivery of Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEW) on residential and mixed-use developments.

The Role

Working alongside experienced fire engineers and surveyors, you will undertake site-based inspections and surveys to support FRAEW assessments in accordance with PAS 9980 guidance. You will be responsible for gathering accurate building information, documenting external wall construction details, and producing high-quality survey reports to support fire risk assessments.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct on-site surveys of residential and mixed-use buildings.
Inspect external wall systems, cladding, insulation, cavity barriers, and associated fire safety measures.
Collect, record, and interpret building construction data to support FRAEW assessments.
Prepare detailed survey notes, photographs, and technical reports.
Liaise with clients, property managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Support fire engineers and senior consultants throughout the FRAEW process.
Ensure all work is completed in line with current legislation, guidance, and company standards.
Assist with project planning and delivery across multiple sites.

Requirements

Previous experience in fire safety, building surveying, construction surveying, façade inspection, or a related discipline.
Good understanding of external wall systems and modern construction methods.
Familiarity with PAS 9980 and FRAEW processes would be advantageous.
Strong report writing and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.

Desirable Qualifications

Degree or qualification in Building Surveying, Fire Safety, Construction, or a related field.
Membership of a relevant professional body (RICS, CIOB, IFE, CABE, etc.).
Experience surveying residential high-rise buildings.
Knowledge of Building Safety Act requirements and current fire safety legislation.
