Fire & Security Design Engineer – Flexible Working | Commercial Projects
Are you an experienced Fire & Security Design Engineer looking for a role where your technical expertise is genuinely valued?
We're recruiting on behalf of a growing and well-established Fire & Security specialist delivering commercial and industrial projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they're looking to add an experienced Design Engineer to their technical team.

The Role
As a Fire & Security Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing compliant, cost-effective Fire & Security systems from initial enquiry through to quotation and project handover.
Working closely with clients, project managers, suppliers and engineers, you'll produce high-quality technical designs and accurate estimates that meet customer requirements and industry standards.
You'll be designing systems including:
* Fire Alarm Systems
* CCTV Systems
* Access Control Systems
* Intruder Alarm Systems
Key Responsibilities
* Design Fire & Security systems for commercial and industrial projects.
* Produce accurate estimates, quotations and costings.
* Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
* Produce AutoCAD drawings, system layouts and technical documentation.
* Prepare technical submissions and project proposals.
* Liaise with clients, suppliers, project managers and installation teams.
* Ensure designs comply with current industry standards and regulations.
* Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
What We're Looking For
Essential
* Previous experience as a Fire & Security Design Engineer, Design Estimator or similar.
* Experience designing Fire Alarm, CCTV, Access Control and Intruder Alarm systems.
* Strong AutoCAD skills.
* Experience producing estimates and quotations.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and client specifications.
* Excellent technical knowledge of Fire & Security systems.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage your own workload.
* Commercial awareness and attention to detail.
Desirable
* Experience using Simpro or similar estimating software.
* Knowledge of BS5839, NSI, SSAIB and other relevant Fire & Security standards.
* Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
