Job Title: Fire Safety Officer
Location: Maudsley Hospital, SE5 8AZ
Trust: South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust

Pay: £22.92 per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (Apply online only)

Full driving licence essential - Role involves travelling around all Trust premises in the area.

Are you a driven and passionate Fire Safety expert that could bring your skillset to your local NHS Services? Could you be the Trust’s next specialist advisor, ensuring Trust compliance with fire safety laws, conducting risk assessments, and aiding policy reviews?

Key responsibilities:

* Provide expert advice on fire safety legislation, collaborating with the Regional Health, Safety, and Fire Manager to shape our Trust’s strategy and ensure compliance.

* Develop and implement a comprehensive fire training policy, including specialist training and enhancing e-learning programs.

* Monitor and evaluate fire drills and evacuation exercises, making improvements as necessary and maintaining accurate records.

* Liaise with the Regional Health, Safety, and Fire Manager to support Responsible Persons across Trust properties, managing the Fire Risk Management System and offering operational advice.

* Conduct Fire Risk Assessments and audits, ensuring adequate precautions in all Trust areas and extending assessments to premises with a duty of care.

* Collaborate with staff at all levels, contributing to policy development, ensuring standards compliance, and providing expert advice.

* Lead the development of local standards, monitor fire prevention through inspections, investigate incidents, and produce relevant statistics while assisting in technical planning for new constructions and renovations.

Person specification

* Extensive experience in fire safety engineering, safety management, and risk assessment.

* Accredited training in Fire Risk Assessment with detailed knowledge of HTM 05/Firecode.

* Membership in a professional organization relevant to fire safety.

* Experience working in healthcare environments within large, dispersed organizations.

* Proven ability in preparing and delivering specialist training courses, including train-the-trainer skills for specialized groups.

* Proficiency in presenting to staff and stakeholders at all levels.

* Familiarity with risk management systems, demonstrating initiative and a willingness to take responsibility.

This role may require you to show evidence of education to Degree level or at least 2 years relevant experience.
