Fire Alarm Service Engineer – Swindon – £40,000–£42,000 + Overtime

Fire Alarm Service Engineer | Swindon | Permanent

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fire Alarm Service Engineer to join a well-established and growing fire and life safety company covering Swindon and the surrounding areas. Due to continued expansion and increased customer demand, our client is looking to add a skilled engineer to their permanent engineering team.

This is a full-time, permanent role offering a competitive basic salary, overtime opportunities, company vehicle and the chance to work across a variety of commercial sites maintaining and servicing critical fire alarm systems.

The successful candidate will have strong experience working with fire alarm systems, including servicing, maintenance, fault finding and remedial works. Experience with GENT fire alarm systems or other closed protocol systems would be highly beneficial due to the specialist nature of the role.

Fire Alarm Service Engineer – Role & Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintenance, fault finding, and repair of fire alarm systems
• Working on GENT fire alarm systems and other closed protocol systems
• Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across commercial sites
• Diagnosing faults and completing effective remedial works
• Testing and maintaining addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
• Ensuring all works are completed in line with BS 5839 and current fire safety regulations
• Completing service reports, documentation and maintenance records accurately
• Maintaining excellent communication with customers and internal teams
• Supporting the wider engineering team when required

Fire Alarm Service Engineer – Skills & Experience Required

• Full UK driving licence (essential)
• Previous experience as a Fire Alarm Service Engineer or Fire Alarm Engineer
• Strong servicing and fault-finding knowledge of fire alarm systems
• Experience working on GENT systems or other closed protocol fire alarm systems would be highly beneficial
• Experience with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
• Ideally 3+ years’ experience within the fire alarm industry
• Good understanding of BS 5839 regulations
• Experience working within commercial environments
• Relevant certifications such as FIA, ECS/CSCS, IPAF or City & Guilds (desirable)
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and self-motivation
