Fire Alarm Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for a Fire Alarm Engineer to work for this Nationwide provider of commercial facilities management and building services. We are recruiting for a progressive & dynamic building services company formed in 1990. The company have a large network of directly employed multi-skilled engineers located throughout the UK. This enables the business to offer their clients a fast and reliable service which is moulded to their individual requirements

You will be required to complete a variety of Fire alarm installations, commissioning, reactive and PPM works regionally, providing a professional service and working in accordance with FIA and regulation standards.

Main Duties:

* To assemble, install, test, and maintain commercial fire alarm systems

* Commission new fire alarm installs

* To diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem attempting in all instances to provide a first visit fix

* To attend all reactive works within your specified region, meeting SLA targets (if applicable)

* To attend all planned works to test or maintain electrical equipment/installations

* To work safely from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures

* To attend all sites requested to you by the Company within the agreed time frames

* To be flexible with start and finish times, carrying out works with minimum disturbance to clients and their trading (if applicable)

* To attend all call outs and/ or provide technical support to clients when on-call

* To work outside of normal hours both weekends and nights when required (as overtime)

* To ensure all work is carried in accordance with industry guidelines

* To competently test installations to ensure conformity to industry guidelines

* To complete and return all paperwork to the office in the agreed time scales using the relevant resources e.g. tablet

* To carry out general maintenance works as required by the Client/Company

* To provide support to team members and provide technical advice when needed

* Assist with a variety of other works associated with the department, including electrical installations, maintenance and reactive repairs

* To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by your manager/supervisor

* To be aware of the budgetary and commercial implications of the work

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications/experience:

* FIA : Install, Maintenance, Commissioning

* IPAF

* Asbestos Awareness

* Driving Licence (Full UK)

* C&G 2382 (18th Edition wiring regulations)

* 1 year + reactive fire alarms maintenance experience, including testing and PPM works.

* Able to test own installation works

* Experience with commissioning new installs

* Use of PDA’s

* Willing and able to travel

* Flexible with start and finish times to meet the needs of the client

* Able to work weekends and nights when required
