Financial Controller

CMA Recruitment Group are proud to be exclusively supporting an SME electrical retailer and distribution business based in Southampton as a Financial Controller. This role offers a unique progression path, starting with day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities and evolving into a pivotal position within their company structure, as the Finance Director begins his phased retirement in the next 6 month's or so.

As the Financial Controller, in time you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the financial operations, from daily procedures to strategic financial planning. You'll manage the daily financial procedures, execute weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks, and handle ad-hoc responsibilities as required. 

What will the Financial Controller role involve?
- Performing Sales Ledger upload calculations and managing payment authorizations.
- Conducting daily cashflow and sales reviews, and approving new or amended credit limits.
- Managing Ledger Master uploads, payment receipts, and conducting daily reconciliations.
- Handling weekly tasks such as forward cashflow projections and HMV Invoicing.
- Monthly responsibilities including month-end reconciliations, payroll submissions, and preparation of management accounts.
- Quarterly and annual procedures such as VAT returns, audit planning, and budget preparations.
- Ad-hoc tasks like customer account management, issuing credit notes, and supporting new customer setups.
- Providing holiday/sickness cover for Purchase Ledger duties and assisting with daily sales activities.

Suitable Candidate for the Financial Controller vacancy:

We are seeking a candidate with previous experience in producing management accounts.
strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), and familiarity with financial software systems (e.g., LedgerMaster, One office system).
Excellent organizational skills.
Effective cashflow management capabilities.
Commitment to accuracy in financial data are essential.
