We are currently working alongside one of our favourite clients who are seeking an experienced Financial Controller. This is a unique opportunity to play an integral role in supporting a successful organisation and acting as the right-hand person to the Executive team. In this key role, you will set your own priorities whilst meeting business objectives. You will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of the organisation and driving its profitability and growth.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and SMT, you will be responsible for developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the organisation's stability and compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, you'll provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions and strategies.

Location: Glasgow/ Edinburgh (Based onsite, potential hybrid working for the right candidate)

Salary: £50,000 (DOE).

What you will be doing:

Collaborate with the Executive team in developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure financial stability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Offer financial analysis and support to the UK leadership team and Managing Director, aiding business decisions and strategies.
Taking full ownership of the financial function including preparing monthly financial reporting to the directors, managing the business ledger, company expenses, HMRC obligations to include corporation Tax, VAT and PAYE.
Responsibility of Sage systems for general ledgers and PAYE and ensuring accuracy.
Producing monthly management accounts and preparing financial information for the company accountants.
Analyse financial data and deliver insights to drive both immediate and future profitability and growth.
Provide accurate and timely financial information and performance reports to the Managing Director and SMT.
Identify and mitigate financial risks, providing recommendations to the Managing Director as needed.
Support the continual improvement of end-to-end accounting practises.
Prepare and post accurate monthly accruals, prepayments, and other accounting entries.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting efforts.
Conduct analysis of monthly and quarterly figures, presenting findings to the Managing Director.
Manage the audit process and act as the main point of contact for external auditors.
Proactively identify and manage risks, proposing solutions and effectively managing stakeholder expectations.
Oversee working capital management and the production of cash flow forecasts.
Lead overall responsibility for payroll, PAYE, VAT, and HMRC processes.
Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders.
Oversee the organisation's accounting, tax, and audit functions.
Uphold compliance with all legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.
Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Maintain systematic order and logical thinking to drive positive outcomes in the organisation's financial infrastructure.
Assist the Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer in setting growth goals and support overall strategy development.

What you will need:

Proficiency in IT packages, specifically Sage, Office365, and additional financial systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work on own initiative and be able to communicate financial matters to all levels.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
Extensive technical knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practises.
Proficiency in financial software and tools, including ERP systems and Excel.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
