Position: Finance Controller/ Financial Director Designate

Location: Cheshire (Onsite initially, with scope for hybrid once bedded in).

Salary: £75k- £85k (DOE and negotiable) inclusive of car allowance with other added benefits.

With an annual turnover exceeding £20 million, we are a recruiting for a leading UK steel manufacturer of Commercial buildings. We are currently seeking a High- calibre Financial Controller/ financial Director Designate to join a small financial team. In this role, you will oversee the collection, analysis and consolidation of financial data and to assist the Finance Director in the effective management of the company's finances. You will play a key role in the development and maintenance of financial controls, processes and systems and ensure that these are in line with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensuring that an organisation meets the necessary tax, permit and licencing requirements.
Collaborating with an executive team in establishing more effective processes and controls to ensure the integrity of a company's ledger.
Overseeing all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers and disclosures
Providing executive management with accurate and comprehensive financial information to guide effective policy making and financial strategizing
Summarising budget trends, analysing deficiencies and reporting variances to executives
Providing external auditors with the necessary documentation and support
Taking care of tax preparation duties or liaising with external tax accountants for tax preparation
Manage multiple P&Ls within a group structure.
Evaluate and optimize investments.
Analyze and enhance cost efficiency.
Assist with overseeing budget planning and forecasting.
Direct and mentor finance staff, fostering motivation and development.
Monitor external contracts and supplier services to ensure effectiveness and value.

This role reports directly to senior management levels, requiring the confidence to challenge and propose new ideas. Someone with high energy, very hands on and whom wants to grow with the business and wants to progress to Financial Director would be suitable for such position.

Qualifications and Skills:

A practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniques
Solid knowledge of standard accountancy and finance best practices
Solid IT skills, including proficiency in the relevant accounting packages
A strong understanding of tax codes and laws
Strong analytical skills to effectively analyse financial reports
In-depth knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting
Qualified Chartered Accountant (preferably FCA, ACCA or equivalent)
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related discipline.
Proven experience in financial leadership roles.
Effective communicator and team leader.
In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance.
Confidence to challenge and innovate.
Energetic and proactive approach.
