Financial Analyst

Location: Oxford - Hybrid, 3 days onsite minimum requirement
Contract: 6 months, strong likelihood of extension - Mon - Fri / 08:30 - 17:00 / 37.5 hrs per week.
Rate: £37.01 Inside IR35 Umbrella

Security clearance level required: DBS required, current SC preferred

The Opportunity

A leading organisation within the aviation and defence sector is seeking a talented Financial Analyst to join its Finance team in Oxford.

This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional to play a key role in supporting financial reporting across major defence programmes and future bid campaigns. The successful candidate will work within a fast-paced, highly regulated environment, providing accurate financial information and ensuring compliance with key financial controls and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for:

Processing and posting payroll journals
Managing fixed asset controls and monitoring asset registers
Preparing and submitting VAT returns
Completing balance sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
Managing intercompany invoicing activities
Supporting the statutory audit process
Producing and analysing foreign exchange (Forex) reporting
Performing month-end accounting and reporting activities
Supporting financial reporting for defence projects and programmes
Assisting with financial analysis and support for future business opportunities and bid campaigns

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

Strong understanding of financial principles, controls, and reporting
Experience in payroll accounting, fixed asset management, invoicing, and foreign exchange reporting
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong report writing and documentation capabilities
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to tight deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
Understanding of work package management and control
Knowledge of risk management principles

Additional Information

Based in Oxford
Occasional travel within the UK and Europe may be required
Full driving licence preferred but not essential
Must be eligible to obtain UK Ministry of Defence Security Clearance
