Description:

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council are looking to recruit a Finance Officer - Sales Ledger to join our Transactions and Systems Team team based in Ipswich, Suffolk. Full time, part time and job share opportunities will be considered. The successful candidates will earn a competitive of £29,269 - £33,945 per annum (pro rata for part time).

About the Finance Officer - Sales Ledger role

Working within the Sales Ledger module of our Financial Management System, Unit 4, you will be responsible for raising invoices and credit notes and setting up customer payment plans. 

You will:

run processes for the collection of Direct Debits. You will complete routines for failed and cancelled Direct Debits and engage with the customer to secure alternative payment. 

be responsible for identifying customer credits within suspense accounts and allocating these with accuracy.

work closely with other Service Departments, to ensure that annual charges are raised according to schedule. 

handle customer queries via phone and email, providing copy documents, statements and payment option information. 

work closely with the Credit Controller to reduce aged debt.

About you

To take on this role, you will need to be educated to NVQ 3/A level standard or have gained equivalent knowledge through experience, ideally within a financial environment.

In addition, you will be able to demonstrate:

keen analytical skills

the ability to interpret financial information

confidence in using your own initiative

a willingness to support other members of the team.

Due to the fast-paced nature of this role, attention to detail is essential, alongside excellent organisational, communication and IT skills.
