Description:

Working for a well respected local charity on the outskirts of Shrewsbury, you will be supporting the Head of Finance in a 20 hr a week role which is flexible to consider Hybrid/ remote working after a sucessful probation period. On site parking and modern working environment. Immediate start available.

Key Responsibilities

Financial

• Coding and processing of purchase ledger invoices, reconciling delivery notes and purchase orders to invoices received, obtaining authorisation and purchase ledger statement reconciliation.

• Preparing and processing weekly payment runs in accordance with the agreed timetable and financial control procedures and ensuring correct coding of all costs.

• Processing the recovery of central cost and staff hours to relevant cost centre's.

• Checking staff expenses claims with supporting receipts and prepare monthly expense reports.

• Maintaining an up-to-date inventory of all equipment held by the charity.

• Maintaining an up-to-date register of supplier contracts.

• Regular banking of cash, cheques, donations, etc.

• Maintaining financial records, including filing (electronic and manual), storage, archiving and security of all financial and contractual documentation meeting all data protection requirements and responsibilities.

• Maintaining gift aid records.

• Reviewing and reconciling debtor and creditor accounts.

• Credit control and chasing debtors.

• Performing monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.

• Acting as a point of contact for accounts payable queries.

• Supporting the Head of Finance with budget monitoring, management accounts and financial claims to external funding bodies.

• Assisting in the preparation of month and end of year accounts.

• Assisting with year-end audits.

Other Duties

• Supporting the Head of Finance in the efficient and effective management and maintenance of the charity’s premises, including the negotiation of utility and supplier contracts as required.

• To act as the “Appointed person for first aid” and undertake other health and safety duties as required.

• Undertake other duties as required.

• Participate in the wider work of Community Resource as required.

Duties and responsibilities may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the role or level of responsibility entailed. The post holder may therefore be required to pursue activities other than those specified above within the remit of the post.

Experience/ Training required: Essential -

• Good standard of education (including minimum Maths GCSE Grade C or equivalent)

• A recognised accountancy qualification (AAT Intermediate or equivalent).

• Computerised finance systems.

• Microsoft Excel.

• Good level of computer literacy – email, MS Word, database, etc.

• Previous experience in a financial role.

Desirable -

• Charity financial experience.

• SAGE accounting.

• Administering claims to external funding bodies.

• Using digital tools to modernise a finance function.
