Finance Officer

This is a very exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant who is looking for their next step in their Finance career! Reporting into the Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for a variety of finance duties including:
Purchase Ledger
* Processing of supplier invoices and staff expenses in an accurate and timely manner.
* Ensure invoices are correctly coded and authorised.
* Reconcile suppliers' statements and regularly review aged creditors report to raise any issues with the Senior Financial Accountant.
* Daily correspondence with suppliers regarding invoices and payments.
* Payment run preparation, in consultation with the Senior Financial Accountant.
* Manage the use of company credit cards.
* Nominal Ledger
* Post monthly expenditure accruals and prepayments journals.
* Assist in reconciling balance sheet accounts monthly and resolve reconciliation differences.
* Post monthly depreciation journal and assist with maintaining the Fixed Asset Register.
* Assist with year-end audit preparation and reconciliations when required.
Shop Sales
* Reconcile merchandise sales with actual cash received and resolve any discrepancies.
* Raise and enter sales journals for all shop and online sales.
* Monthly reconciliation of Shopify sales to ledger.
Banking and Petty Cash
* Cash collection, counting and recording from visitor donations.
* Weekly banking of cheques and cash.
* Manage all petty cash requests and maintain petty cash float.
* Reconcile petty cash vouchers and cash on a monthly basis and prepare and enter petty cash journals.
Person Specification
* Experience working within accounts and an interest in pursuing a career in finance.
* Experience using Access Dimensions or a similar accounting package.
* Excellent numeracy skills.
* Advanced MS Excel skills.
* Experience in delivering an excellent customer service.
* Aptitude to work on own initiative and as a member of a small team.
* Data entry skills and meticulous attention to detail.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proactive and flexible attitude with strong time management and organisational
* abilities.
* Have begun working towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA qualification
