Finance Manager - Stoke on Trent to undertake aspects of financial management for, including accounting and financial reporting, assisting in the budget and forecast preparation, and ensuring compliance with sound internal control policies and procedures. The Finance Manager responsibilities also include management of the Finance team overseeing Accounts Payable, Credit Control and Treasury.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Overall stewardship of the Company’s accounting and financial reporting, including management of VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax, assist with the external audit of the Financial Statements, develop meaningful KPIs and analysis for reporting and supporting business projects to enhance operational efficiencies and support growth.

* Manage all accounting operations including Credit Control, Accounts Payable, Nominal Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Fixed Assets and Cash Management

* Support the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances

* Prepare timely monthly financial statements in accordance with the Group timetable and work with IT to design reports and processes that lead to simplification and enhanced business reporting

* Manage Finance activities that provide analysis which drive business decisions relative to improving service level, efficiency and customer service via streamlining processes and cost savings projects (LEAN/Continuous Improvement)

* Preparation of required reporting including monitoring of Company cash flow forecasts which align to sales orders, Credit Control and Accounts Payable.

* Lead the month-end and year-end close process ensuring timely reporting to Group

* Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting, continually review the financial processes to ensure they continue to be up to date.

* Manage and comply with statutory reporting requirements and tax filings with HMRC

* Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

* Establish seamless internal relationships with Sales, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure transparency of reporting for optimal business results.

* Additional Finance Manager duties as necessary

Technical Skills & Competence

* Proven working experience as a Finance Manager

* 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience

* AAT qualified and working towards professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA

* Strong leadership skills with ability to delegate, collaborate and work well under pressure

* Ability to effectively communicate financial related information with other teams within the business

* Sound knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

* Experience with nominal ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process

* Excellent accounting software (Priority / Concur) user and administration skills including use of banking tools

* Advanced Excel modelling skills including use of VLOOKUP and pivot tables
