The Company

Our client is one of the larger colleges in the University of Oxford. Founded in 1555, it is a long-established member of the thirty-nine colleges of Oxford University. Like all colleges, it is an independent, self-governing establishment, which functions both as an academic institution and as a social and residential centre for its members.

The Role

There is a need to significantly improve processes, systems and reporting to enable finance to provide an excellent service to all departments. Therefore, we are seeking to appoint an experienced finance professional who can contribute at a senior level to the development and implementation of finance procedures, processes and practices across College making best use of systems as part of a change programme for the finance function.

The Finance Operations and Systems Manager will be responsible for reviewing, overseeing and making recommendations about the operational aspects of finance, including battels, sales and purchase ledger. They will work closely with Heads of Department across the College to ensure that finance team processes are designed to meet internal stakeholder needs. The post holder will report to the Finance Bursar and will work closely with other senior members of the Bursary leadership team.

Requirements:

We are looking for an individual who has experience of leading the operational aspects of a finance function, with a track record of identifying process improvements including the adoption & use of finance systems, to then implement change across the function and team. The Finance Manager will be responsible for the management of the operational finance team of four FTE.

Experience of working with and developing systems is essential as the College is looking to modernise its processes across College, and the post holder is expected to contribute to these developments. Previous experience in higher education is not essential.
