Lincoln

Full time | Permanent

Commercially minded, analytical and confident working with operational teams?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business within the food and agriculture sector, where you'll play a key role in connecting Finance with the wider business and helping teams make better commercial decisions.

Working closely with Business Unit owners across Farming, CEA, Property and Central Functions, you'll provide financial insight, challenge and support to improve performance, manage risk and identify opportunities.

If you're someone who enjoys getting under the skin of the numbers, building strong relationships and turning financial information into meaningful insight, this could be the role for you.

What's on offer?

Permanent, full time position

Key role within the Business Finance team

Close working relationship with senior stakeholders and operational teams

Opportunity to influence commercial and operational decision making

Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, investment appraisal and business performance

Opportunity to improve reporting, processes and financial systems

What's the job?

You'll act as a key link between Finance and the wider business, helping Business Unit owners understand their financial performance and make informed decisions.

You'll provide analysis and constructive challenge across revenue, costs, margin and cash, while supporting budgets, forecasts, business cases and investment decisions.

Day to day, you'll be:

Acting as a trusted Finance Business Partner to Business Unit owners

Building strong relationships across the business and providing commercial insight

Supporting annual budgets, forecasting and medium term planning

Analysing business performance, trends, risks and opportunities

Preparing monthly Business Performance Review information and clear variance commentary

Helping teams understand the drivers behind revenue, costs, margins and cash

Assessing operational efficiency, unit economics and cost structures

Preparing financial models, business cases and investment appraisals

Supporting scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis

Developing and improving reporting packs, dashboards and KPIs

Challenging existing reporting and helping move towards more forward looking analysis

Supporting non finance teams with budgets and financial accountability

Working closely with FP&A, Controlling and senior Finance leadership

Identifying opportunities to improve processes, automate reporting and strengthen controls

Supporting improvements to ERP systems, data and financial tools

Ensuring financial information is accurate, relevant and delivered on time

This is a hands on business partnering role where you'll need to be comfortable working with detail while understanding the wider commercial picture. You'll need to communicate confidently with operational stakeholders and be prepared to challenge constructively when needed.

What do I need?

Fully qualified accountant with CIMA, ACCA or ACA, or equivalent commercial finance experience

Nearly qualified candidates may be considered where qualification is expected within six months

Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand and explain the story behind the numbers

Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with complex data

Experience in a Finance Business Partnering or similar commercial finance role

Experience supporting operational or commercial teams

Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills

Commercial mindset with a proactive and solutions focused approach

Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast moving environment

Confidence to challenge constructively and drive accountability

Experience within a capital intensive or manufacturing environment, with an understanding of inventory and production costs

Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, NetSuite or Sage Intacct would be beneficial, as would Power BI or other data visualisation experience. Experience within agriculture or food production would also be useful.

Most importantly, you'll need to be someone who can simplify complexity, build strong relationships and turn financial information into insight that helps operational teams perform better.
