Description:

A business based near York are currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join their team on a maternity cover contract basis with an immediate start. This is an excellent opportunity to join a Finance Team, which has a great culture, to expand your skill sets and learn further. The successful applicant will receive a salary of up to £26,000 (pro rata and dependent on experience and qualifications), as well as 30 days holiday (including bank holidays), performance related bonus, attractive, Monday to Friday working hours and further. This role is a part-time opportunity for 32 hours. This can be done across 4 or 5 days, with hours to suit the individual.

Although this is not a traditional temp-to-perm role, permanent opportunities may arise in the business that this individual could be considered for.

As the Finance Assistant you will work as part of the Finance Team, primarily focussing on the accounts receivable, credit control and payroll, as well as other wider duties. Key responsibilities of the Finance Assistant will include:

Issuing invoices for all sales made by the company.
Recording and maintaining a reference system for invoices so that transactions can be easily tracked.
Receiving customer payments, recording cash, cheque and card transactions.
Carrying out daily company banking tasks including cash handling and driving to and from the company bank as necessary.
Reconciling invoice records with outstanding and aged debt.
Working with customers, sales representatives, and managers on credit control and in recovering outstanding debt.
Weekly Bank Reconciliation.
Verifying the validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from customers, customer service staff, sales representatives, and managers.
Producing fortnightly debtors reports.
Managing the company system for direct debits.
Involvement in preparing for the annual audit and working with the external auditors to provide evidence for testing of transactions.
Shared responsibility for day-to-day tasks which fall within the scope of an office administrator including, but not limited to, answering the phone and directing enquiries.To be successful in this Finance Assistant role, you will ideally have/be:

Working knowledge and experience of accountancy software such Sage, Quickbooks or Xero, as well as MS Excel
Experience in AR processing and credit control
Experience in completing payroll or, the desire to learn this skill
Studying or AAT qualified, or have equivalent experienceThis is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a new opportunity, who ideally has some exposure to a similar role already. This role would also be ideal for somebody who is currently studying or is AAT qualified (or equivalent study/experience). You may currently be a Accounts Assistant, Purchase Ledger Clerk, Sales Ledger Clerk, Accounts Receivable Clerk, Accounts Payable Clerk, Credit Controller, Assistant Accountant or Finance Officer who is looking for a new challenge. 

Based in York, this role is commutable from Dunnington, Heslington, Stamford Bridge, Elvington, Malton and surrounding areas, with onsite parking available.
