Description:

Field Service Engineer – Industrial Equipment

* Machines Manufacturer

* Saltash, UK

* Up to £42.500 + Benefits

We are working with an established Machines Manufacturing company based in Saltash, UK.

Due to continuing growth, they are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their team.

They are looking for an experienced Field Service & Commissioning Engineer to install, commission, service and support specialist manufacturing equipment at customer sites across the UK and internationally.

This is a hands-on engineering position requiring practical experience working with industrial machinery and liquid or fluid handling systems – for example equipment incorporating pumps, valves, pipework, sensors, pressure or flow control, dosing, metering or process control.

You'll need to be confident diagnosing faults, working with mechanical and electrical systems, solving technical problems independently and representing the Client directly with customers.

This is not a graduate or entry-level engineering position. Applicants should have at least three years' practical commercial/industrial engineering experience. Academic or university project experience alone will not meet this requirement.

Approximately 50% of the role involves UK and international travel, including regular overnight stays.

They’re not just building machines; They’re pioneering processes that transformed the composites industry, including the Direct Infusion Process they developed in the early 2000s. Customers worldwide trust their solutions for precision, reliability, and innovation, but it’s the people who make it all possible.

Based at their Saltash facility when you're not travelling, you'll support the equipment throughout its operational life – from testing and commissioning through to servicing, upgrades, troubleshooting and customer support.

You'll regularly work directly with customers and sometimes independently, so you'll need to be comfortable taking ownership of technical problems and seeing them through to resolution.

No two weeks will be the same. You could be commissioning new equipment at an international manufacturing facility, diagnosing an issue remotely for an existing customer, or testing and calibrating equipment at Saltash facility.

Key Responsibilities include:

Installation, Commissioning & Field Service

* Install and commission equipment at customer sites in the UK and internationally

* Diagnose mechanical, electrical and control-system faults

* Service, repair and upgrade industrial equipment

* Fault-find systems incorporating pumps, valves, sensors, pipework, pressure and flow control

* Carry out testing and calibration of equipment, sensors and associated systems

* Complete software updates and system optimisation

* Deliver operator and maintenance training

* Complete accurate service reports, maintenance records and customer documentation

* Work safely and professionally in accordance with Client’s and customer site requirements

Technical Support

* Diagnose and resolve customer equipment issues

* Provide technical support by phone, email and remote-access systems

* Manage and respond to issues through our customer helpdesk

* Help customers maximise equipment performance, reliability and uptime

* Take ownership of technical issues through to resolution

Testing & Continuous Improvement

* Test, calibrate and validate equipment

* Support product and process improvements

* Feed field experience back into our engineering teams

* Create and maintain technical documentation and work instructions

Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering capability

Proven experience diagnosing faults and solving technical problems independently

Ability to read and work from relevant technical drawings and documentation

Experience working directly with customers or end users in a commercial/industrial environment

Ability to communicate technical information clearly and confidently

A recognised engineering qualification such as an apprenticeship, HNC, HND or degree, or equivalent substantial practical experience

Composite manufacturing

The Person:

This role will suit an engineer who enjoys getting hands-on with equipment and working out why something isn't behaving as it should.

You'll be comfortable arriving at a customer site, understanding the problem, methodically diagnosing the cause and taking ownership of finding a solution.

We're looking for someone who is:

Practical and technically curious

A confident and methodical fault-finder

Comfortable working independently

Customer-focused and professional

Calm when solving technical problems under pressure

Organised and able to manage work while travelling

Proactive and adaptable

Keen to continue developing their technical knowledge
