Position: Field Service Engineer

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000

Location: Wellingborough, UK wide travel

Field Service Engineer required. Our client is a growing specialist manufacturer of packaging machinery and solutions, supplying to customers across the UK.

Due to the ongoing growth of the business, they are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their engineering team. The role will involve UK-wide travel, with occasional international travel, and will provide the opportunity to work on a wide range of industrial packaging and automated machinery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, servicing, repairing and optimising end-of-line packaging machinery at customer sites, whilst providing a professional and reliable service to customers.

Field Service Engineer Position Overview

Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults on industrial packaging machinery
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and servicing
Attending customer sites to investigate and repair machinery breakdowns
Installing, commissioning and setting up new packaging machinery
Optimising machine performance, reliability and film usage
Identifying opportunities to improve machine efficiency and reduce operating costs
Providing professional technical support and guidance to customers on site
Completing accurate engineer service reports and providing feedback to customers and the wider engineering team
Working independently when required, whilst also supporting colleagues as part of the wider engineering team
Representing the company professionally at customer sites
Following appropriate health and safety procedures and company standards
Working on a variety of end-of-line packaging equipment, including pallet wrappers, conveyors, strapping and banding machinery

Field Service Engineer Position Requirements

Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Good electrical fault-finding and diagnostic ability
Previous experience working with industrial machinery and/or automated equipment
Ability to work independently, manage your own workload and prioritise tasks effectively
Strong communication and customer service skills
Reliable, organised and professional approach to work
Full UK driving licence
Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the UK
Minimum Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, such as NVQ, A-Level, BTEC or equivalent
Previous field service engineering experience would be advantageous
