Field Engineer

Location: Roles are based across Scotland (Edinburgh) and G (Glasgow)

Duration: 1 year & Extendable

Contract: Outside IR35

Comments: Onsite role 24*7 rotational shift and travel vehicle will be provided. Required Full UK Driving Licence

Role purpose:

Delivery of excellence for our customer.

To provide a professional field engineering service for provide and assure activities across Scottish Power's strategic telecommunications network across Scotland and the interfaces into the SSEN, National Grid telecoms networks on behalf of Vodafone's continued support contract.

To be available for the provision of 24 x 7 x 365 1st line, assure activities and routine maintenance work for our key utilities' suppliers.

Working alongside our project engineers on project delivery & assure delivery to achieve the benefits expected by both client and the Vodafone.

Be able to manage risk, ensure quality and health & safety requirements are being met on an individual and team basis.

Hold a technical knowledge of networking principles, having operated in both provide and assure delivery space and have a proven track record of successful technical project implementation across various delivery solutions.

Full UK Driving Licence

Demonstrate a positive can-do attitude.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership

Ensure projects are completed in a manner that ensures delivery to the time, cost, quality, health & safety parameters agreed with the client whilst conforming to Vodafone's project engineering standards and others as agreed with the client.
A requirement to complete project documentation as required by the project engineer.
Monitor progress against plan and recommend corrective actions.
Identify issues and risks and escalate appropriately.
Provide timely and quality communication to all stakeholders.
Ensure technical, test and quality plans as agreed are delivered to the project engineer.
Ensure the necessary project administration is carried out.
Provisions of 1st, line assure activities on 24 x 7 x 365 basis adhering to our agreed contractual SLA targets. Reporting all information & updates to Vodafone's service support desk.
Completion of nominated RMI activities as & when required.
Recommend improvements and cost reductions where identified.
The ability to respond and act promptly on all tasks being delivered
Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative Core skills competencies, knowledge, and experience

Exceptional organisation skills
Demonstrable engineering installation & Commissioning experience
Assure/Maintenance activity experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Computer Skills (Teams/Microsoft Office)
Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment
Ability to work to the applicable quality standards.
Scottish Power work authorizations required (training will be provided).
Installation of Networks & equipment (Commtel/SDH/PDH/Radio/Xtran)
Excellent knowledge of routing switching and data networking
IP networking (Wan, LAN, MPLS)
Experience in maintaining monitoring and troubleshooting networks and systems Must have technical / professional qualifications:

Proven track record in the installation and support of DC Charger, PDH, SDH, Comtel, Microwave radio technology's DC & AC experienced.
Knowledge of Cisco & Alcatel products.
LAN & WAN Internetworking skills Desirable

Emergency First Aid at Work
DC/AC Competent (Hold a current certificate)
Experience working within a high voltage environment substations 11kv to 400kv.
