Description:

The vacancy
Here at Peabody, we have opportunities for two Female Specialist Support Workers (NIGHTS), on a fixed term basis (up to 9 months) at our young people's scheme in Stoke Newington.

At this scheme we focus our support on young women who are experiencing multiple disadvantages or have had traumatic experiences. Many of them have experienced homelessness, substance misuse, involvement with the criminal justice system and mental ill health.

This female only scheme is supervised across 7 days, 24 hours per day. Please note for this reason, we are looking for female applicants only as it is an all-women’s service. The Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1, Paragraph 1 applies to this post.

What we’re looking for:

* Do you have a background working with vulnerable young females (18-21 years) within either a social housing, education, or charity sector where the focus has been their development and personal growth?

* Do you have lived or professional experience of managing complex needs, which include homelessness, mental health or any other high risk or high harm behaviours or high vulnerability?

* Do you have experience of working with young people who have challenging behaviour or conflict where you can engage, be approachable and provide required constructive support?

* Do you have knowledge of safeguarding and trauma informed principles?

* Can you work nights across a two weekly rolling rota?

Week 1 Week 2
4 nights on 4 nights off
3 nights off 3 nights on

If so, this role is perfect for you!

A bit about the role:
As a Female Specialist Support Worker (Waking Nights), you will be working with a team of highly motivated compassionate, and dedicated colleagues supporting a caseload of young customers. You will need to meet with each customer weekly to help them with their goals and discuss their progress. And, when someone's ready to move on, we will rely on you to help them access the housing register or look for suitable rented accommodation.

Put simply, if you’ve ever wanted a job where you can really make a positive difference to someone’s life, this is it.

Relevant experience would be an advantage, as would an understanding of safeguarding and knowledge of the benefit system. But just as important may well be skills and knowledge which you have in other areas which you can share like sport, music, games, gardening, or a love of film.

All these things would make you a great addition to the Peabody Complex Needs London team.

Some of the key results for the role include:

* Work closely with the team and a range of external agencies in engaging young people in their support programme and achieving their goals.

* Plan and deliver fun and meaningful activities for young people living at the project, whilst adhering to safeguarding and health and safety procedures.

* Bring a discreet and sensitive approach with strong professional boundaries and be able to confidently deal with tense and difficult situations.

* Commit to nightwork.

* Understand safeguarding and knowledge of the benefit system (not essential).

This role will require an Enhanced DBS check.

Please note; this role has the potential to become permanent during the fixed term period.
