Description:

Beaumont College, Lancaster is a very special place and we are seeking to extend our work-family in response to increased demand for places at the college. If you have as passion to support some of the most vulnerable special school leavers to fulfil their potential, through support for the planned, high quality delivery of learning, this role is for you.

Further Education Teacher (SEND - Independence/Employability/ Vocational)

Applicants must be qualified as teachers in further education of compulsory age education.
We are seeking to appoint experienced teachers with a passion to support special school leavers in their journey to prepare for adulthood through a structured educational pathway. With a focus on life beyond college where independence, fulfilment  and voluntary or paid employment could be part of a busy and fulfilling life.  Ideally having experience of working with learners who identify as SEND, you will be creative and able to adapt learning to ensure what is learned is committed to the deeper memory and practiced, which in turn promotes confidence, self belief and a sense of wellbeing.

Your team will include teachers, tutors and learning support colleagues. On a regular, you will also work with a skilled and experienced team of student support workers, with small class sizes and high levels of support. Out pathways are highly personalised and alongside Preparing for Adult Hood, learners will each have a bespoke package of health and support interventions including physio and hydro therapy, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy, access to a skilled and experienced team of assistive technologist, and positive behaviour practitioners.

In the independence and  employability pathways, learners develop work skills, math's and communication for life and work, and try a wide range of vocational learning opportunities to ensure they enjoy learning and make the progress they are capable off as young adults.
Vocational themes of learning support students to make progress, both educationally and in self-advocacy, confidence, self-belief and resilience in preparation for life beyond college in busy and fulfilling destinations.
