Family Support Worker
Hours: Full-time
Department: Children and Young People’s Services
We are looking for a compassionate and committed Family Support Worker to join our Children and Young People’s Services team.
You will work alongside Social Workers to provide practical and emotional support to children, young people and families. You will help families overcome challenges, reduce risk and build resilience, working both in family homes and within the community.
Key responsibilities

Support Social Workers with assessments, care planning and case management.

Provide practical, hands-on support and targeted interventions to families.

Build positive relationships with families who may be difficult to engage.
*
Undertake home visits and work intensively with families to improve outcomes.
*
Facilitate and supervise Family Time/contact sessions, including some evenings and weekends.
*
Ensure the voice, wishes and feelings of children are heard and reflected in support plans.
*
Maintain accurate case records and prepare reports for meetings, reviews and court where required.
*
Work closely with Social Workers, schools, health, Police and other partner agencies.
*
Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and challenging situations.
About you
We are looking for someone with experience of working with children, young people and/or families, who can build trusting relationships and provide effective practical support.
You will need excellent communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and independently, and a good understanding of safeguarding and the needs of children and families.
Flexibility is essential, as the role may include early mornings, evenings and weekends.
