Children and Family Support Worker
MASH (Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub)
Location: Fareham
Contract: Temporary
Rate: £24 per hour (umbrella)
Family Support workers provide an invaluable role in the work of Hampshire Children's Services by supporting our Social Workers!
This role is a great opportunity to join Hampshire County Council if you have experience of working with children and families. You will be based in the busy Children's Reception Team processing new referrals in respect of vulnerable children and young people. As a confident communicator, you will work collaboratively with a wide range of professionals to improve the outcomes for children and families.
Role Responsibilities
Undertaking a range of relevant tasks and responsibilities as prioritised and deemed to be appropriate by the Team Manager, to support teams in fulfilling their duties
Working in partnership with children, parents, carers and professionals.
Using mediation and negotiation skills to support young people and their parents/carers in improving their relationships.
Make sound recommendations based on the referral information received in line with the Hampshire Safeguarding Children Board and Children's Trust Thresholds Chart and confidently identify the risks and strengths.

37 hours week - Monday to Friday (8:30am - 5pm)
Initial 3 month contract, then expected to continue on a rolling contract with possibility of going permanent
£24 per hour (umbrella rate)
Fully office based in Fareham until fully trained, then hybrid working
You will have a good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and young people and be able to identify risks that impact on their well-being and safety. Experience of working with children, young people and families in a safeguarding environment would be an advantage. Good verbal and written communication skills are desirable as is the ability to engage with children, families and professionals. Literacy, numeracy and I.T. skills are essential part of the role.
