Paralegal / Legal Assistant – Family & Public Law

Headturner Search is proud to be recruiting on behalf of one of our valued legal clients for a Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join their highly regarded Family & Public Law team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Family Law professional who is passionate about making a real difference to clients during some of the most challenging periods of their lives. You'll become part of a supportive, collaborative team where your contribution is genuinely valued and your professional development is actively encouraged.

The Role

Working alongside experienced solicitors and legal professionals, you'll provide high-quality legal and administrative support across a varied caseload of Family Law, Care Proceedings and Legal Aid matters.

This is a hands-on role where you'll have genuine client contact, assist with progressing cases from instruction through to conclusion, and play a key part in ensuring clients receive exceptional service throughout their legal journey.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting solicitors on a wide range of Family and Public Law matters.

*

Meeting with clients, taking instructions and preparing detailed file notes.

*

Drafting legal documents, witness statements, position statements and briefs to Counsel.

*

Preparing court bundles and managing case documentation.

*

Managing case files using the firm's case management system.

*

Liaising with clients, courts, Counsel, experts and external agencies.

*

Preparing and managing Legal Aid applications via the LAA Portal and CCMS.

*

Obtaining expert quotations, arranging funding and managing supporting documentation.

*

Monitoring key court dates and ensuring deadlines are met.

*

Maintaining accurate time recording and file management.

*

Assisting with business development, networking and promoting the firm's services.

About You

We're looking for someone who is compassionate, organised and thrives in a busy legal environment.

You'll ideally have:

*

Previous experience within Family Law, ideally including Public Law and/or Legal Aid matters.

*

Excellent knowledge of Family Law procedures.

*

Strong drafting and document preparation skills.

*

Experience working with Legal Aid funding, CCMS and LAA Portal (desirable).

*

Excellent communication and client care skills.

*

The ability to work independently while also being a valued member of a collaborative team.

*

Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who genuinely enjoys supporting clients through sensitive matters with empathy, professionalism and attention to detail.
