Family Assessment Worker

Hours: 9:30pm – 7:00am
Shifts: 4 nights per week
Pay: From £12.75 per hour

We are currently recruiting for a Family Assessment Worker to join a family assessment centre in Dudley, supporting parents and young children throughout overnight assessment placements.

This is a rewarding role where you will play an important part in maintaining a safe, supportive environment for families, while providing accurate observations that contribute to ongoing assessments.

What you’ll be doing:

* Supporting parents and children throughout overnight family assessment placements, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

* Completing regular hourly checks and patrols throughout the service.

* Observing parent-child interactions and family routines, recording clear, factual and objective observations.

* Maintaining accurate records of observations, incidents and relevant information throughout your shift.

* Supporting parents with the care of babies and young children, including nappy changing, feeding and settling children during the night.

* Monitoring CCTV and remaining alert to any safeguarding or welfare concerns.

* Following safeguarding procedures and reporting concerns promptly to the appropriate staff.

* Responding calmly and appropriately to incidents or changes in family circumstances.

* Maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality when working with families.

* Providing clear and detailed handovers to the wider assessment team.

* Following all centre policies, procedures and risk assessments.

The role:

You’ll be working four overnight shifts per week, from 9:30pm until 7:00am, so this position would suit someone who is comfortable working nights and is able to remain observant, calm and professional throughout their shift.

Previous experience working with children, families, care, support work, residential settings or safeguarding would be beneficial. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is reliable, responsible and able to communicate effectively while maintaining professional boundaries.
