Factory & Logistics Manager (Fire Door Manufacturing)

Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per year (Depending on experience)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: London (Greater London)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Factory & Logistics Manager to oversee our manufacturing facility and supply chain operations in London. As a specialist in fire door manufacturing, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring production targets are met efficiently while maintaining the rigorous quality standards required for certified life-safety products.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with high-volume timber production machinery and a robust background in UK Health & Safety (H&S) compliance. You will bridge the gap between factory floor operations and logistics, managing a dedicated team from raw material intake to final dispatch within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Production & Machine Oversight: Manage daily factory floor operations, optimizing workflows and ensuring production machinery (such as CNCs, edgebanders, and panel saws) is fully utilized and properly maintained.

* Logistics & Supply Chain: Oversee warehouse management, inventory control, and dispatch logistics to ensure on-time delivery of completed fire door orders across London and surrounding areas.

* Health & Safety Leadership: Serve as the site's H&S champion. Implement, monitor, and enforce strict safety protocols, risk assessments, and compliance standards relative to woodworking and manufacturing environments.

* Quality Assurance: Ensure all manufactured products adhere strictly to UK fire safety regulations, certification requirements (e.g., Q-Mark/BWF), and internal quality benchmarks.

* Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop the production and logistics teams. Manage staff scheduling, performance reviews, and training programs.

* Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in production or logistics and implement lean manufacturing principles to improve yield, reduce waste, and lower operational costs.

Requirements & Qualifications

* Industry Experience: Proven track record in a management role within fire door manufacturing, joinery, or a closely related bespoke timber manufacturing industry.

* Machine Competency: Strong practical understanding of manufacturing machinery to effectively manage operators and maintenance schedules.

* Health & Safety Expertise: Relevant UK H&S qualification (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH, or extensive demonstrable experience managing factory floor safety).

* Logistics Acumen: Strong background in warehouse management, material handling, and transport/dispatch operations.

* Leadership Skills: Excellent communication and people management skills, with the ability to lead by example on the shop floor.

Benefits

* Competitive salary of £50,000 – £55,000

* Company pension scheme

* [Insert other benefits, e.g., 25 days holiday + bank holidays, free parking, annual bonus, etc.]
