Job Responsibilities

Manage and oversee day-to-day facilities operations to ensure smooth running of the site.

Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and effectively.

Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations, statutory requirements, and internal policies.

Maintain accurate records for inspections, maintenance, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.

Manage relationships with contractors and suppliers, including raising work orders and monitoring performance.

Support budgeting and cost control for facilities activities, ensuring value for money.

Conduct site inspections and audits to identify risks, defects, and opportunities for improvement.

Assist with the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and efficiency.

Ensure facilities systems are maintained in line with manufacturer guidance and statutory schedules.

Respond to emergencies and incidents in line with agreed procedures, escalating appropriately.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience in a facilities management or building services role, ideally within a multi-site or fast-paced environment (i.e. hospital, prison, or government building).

Strong knowledge of UK health and safety requirements and compliance best practice.

Experience managing contractors and service providers, including performance monitoring and issue resolution.

Working knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building fabric).

Ability to prioritise workload, manage competing demands, and deliver to agreed service levels.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and audit-ready records.

Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.

Competent IT skills for maintaining records and managing facilities documentation.

Relevant qualification in facilities management, building services, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).

Relevant certifications in health and safety (such as IOSH or NEBOSH) are desirable.

Experience with risk assessments and methodical inspection routines.
