Fabrication Department Supervisor

Core Hours: Monday to Friday, 39 Hours per Week.
Salary Circa: £35,000 p.a.
Holidays: 23 Days + Bank Holidays.
Contract: Full Time, Permanent.
Are you an experienced Manufacturing Production Supervisor, Team Leader or Workshop Supervisor looking for your next challenge?

We're recruiting on behalf of our client which is a well-established Manufacturer based in Diss, Norfolk. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a busy fabrication and brazing department, leading a skilled team and helping drive quality, productivity and continuous improvement.

The Role:
As Fabrication Department Supervisor, you'll oversee the day-to-day operation of the fabrication and brazing area, ensuring production runs safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

You will be responsible for coordinating workloads, supporting and developing team members, maintaining production schedules and ensuring customer requirements are met. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be expected to lead by example and play an active part in improving processes and performance across the department.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and supervise daily fabrication and brazing operations.
Manage production schedules and allocate work effectively.
Monitor productivity, quality and departmental performance.
Ensure engineering drawings and work instructions are followed accurately.
Support, coach and develop team members to achieve their full potential.
Conduct performance reviews and assist with training plans.
Handle personnel issues professionally and effectively.
Resolve production challenges including material shortages and equipment breakdowns.
Maintain high standards of quality and reject non-conforming products.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
Promote and enforce health and safety best practice.
Ensure high housekeeping standards and support 5S activities.
Work closely with managers, supervisors and other departments to achieve business objectives.
What We're Looking For:

Previous supervisory, team leader or management experience within a Manufacturing or Engineering environment.
Strong people management and leadership skills.
Experience of production planning and coordinating shop floor activities.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions.
Good problem solving and decision making skills.
Strong communication and organisational abilities.
Commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
Desirable Experience:

Fabrication or Brazing experience.
Mechanical engineering manufacturing background.
Knowledge of metallurgy and brazing processes.
Lean Manufacturing and 5S experience.
