Welding and Fabrication Apprenticeship Assessor/Lecturer Based in Newcastle
Salary: £32,028 - £42,109 per annum

Are you an experienced Welding and Fabrication professional looking to pass on your industry expertise to the next generation?
A well-established and highly regarded further education college in Tyne and Wear is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Welding and Fabrication Apprenticeship Assessor/Lecturer to join its specialist Energy Academy.
This is an excellent opportunity to combine practical industry knowledge with teaching and assessment, supporting apprentices as they develop the skills needed for successful careers in the energy and engineering sectors.
The Role You will be responsible for delivering and assessing apprentices studying Plate Welder and Metal Fabricator standards. Your role will include a mixture of classroom delivery and workplace assessment, ensuring apprentices receive high-quality training and support throughout their programmes.

Key responsibilities include:

Delivering engaging classroom sessions to apprenticeship learners.
Carrying out workplace visits and assessments.
Conducting regular employer reviews and maintaining strong employer relationships.
Updating and maintaining learner progress using relevant e-portfolio systems.
Liaising with awarding organisations to ensure programme compliance.
Supporting learners to achieve their apprenticeship standards and qualifications.

What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who brings genuine industry experience alongside a passion for developing future talent.
You will ideally have:

A strong background in Welding and Fabrication within the energy sector.
Proven professional or vocational expertise in the industry.
An industry-recognised qualification in a relevant subject.
A recognised post-16 teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one where appropriate).
English and maths qualifications at Level 2 (or willingness to achieve these within an agreed timeframe).
TAQA/CAVA Assessor qualification (or equivalent assessor qualification).
Experience delivering and assessing apprenticeships.
Experience using e-portfolio systems.
Desirable: Experience leading apprenticeship programmes and a proven record of successful teaching and assessment.
