Reception 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: WA11, St Helens
Pay: £14.25 - £16.10 per hour (PAYE)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Contract: Long-term role until July 2027
Start Date: ASAP

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and nurturing 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Reception-aged pupil at a welcoming primary school in the Blackbrook area of St Helens.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or SEN Support Worker looking for a long-term role where they can make a genuine difference to a child's educational journey. You will provide consistent, tailored support to help the pupil access learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes within the classroom environment.

The Role

Working closely with the Class Teacher, SENCO and Early Years team, you will:

Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
Support engagement in Reception learning activities and continuous provision
Promote communication, social interaction and participation
Use visual supports and structured routines to aid learning
Support transitions and daily classroom routines
Assist with emotional regulation and wellbeing
Encourage independence, confidence and positive relationships with peers

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for applicants with experience supporting children with SEND, particularly within:

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
You may have gained experience within:

Primary schools
Specialist SEND provisions
Nurseries or Early Years settings
Children's residential care
Family support services
Alternative provisions
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable, although relevant SEND experience will also be considered.

Confident working as part of a wider school team
Skilled at building positive relationships with children
Able to follow support plans and professional guidance
