Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Supporting Pupils with SEND)

Location: Harrow on the hill, North West London

Pay: £475 - £500 per week (Temp to Perm). Monday to Friday (8:30-16:00)

We are seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our team, providing targeted support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). While the job title is Teaching Assistant, the successful candidate will primarily work alongside pupils requiring additional support, helping them to access learning, build confidence and develop independence within a mainstream junior school setting.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in children's lives by providing both academic and pastoral support. You will work closely with teachers, the Inclusion Team and external professionals to ensure pupils receive the support they need to thrive socially, emotionally and academically. The school is committed to inclusion and provides support for pupils with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), speech and language needs, communication difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs, and learning difficulties.

The Role

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND

Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual pupil needs

Support children in accessing the curriculum both inside and outside the classroom

Assist pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation

Implement strategies and interventions identified by teachers, the SENCO and external agencies

Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, independence and positive learning behaviours

Build strong, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, supported and valued

Support pupils during transitions, breaktimes, educational visits and wider school activities

Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil development

Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers and specialist professionals

Promote positive behaviour and inclusion across all aspects of school life

Contribute to maintaining a safe, nurturing and supportive learning environment

Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote pupil welfare at all times
