EV Maintenance and Installation Engineer

Our Client is looking for an experienced electrical engineer with a passion for the EV industry who doesn't mind travelling to deliver exceptional service,

This is a field-based role that combines hands-on installation work with ongoing

maintenance, testing, inspection, and fault-finding across a wide range of AC and DC

charging equipment. The successful candidate must be comfortable travelling predominantly throughout the southern area of UK and staying away from home when required.

Job Purpose

The EV Maintenance & Installation Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, faultfinding, repairing, testing, and commissioning EV charging infrastructure across

commercial and domestic environments. The role also includes supporting new

commercial installations and ensuring all work is completed safely, professionally, and in accordance with current industry regulations and EAS compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

EV Charger Maintenance & Fault Finding

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on AC and DC EV charging systems.

Installation & Commissioning

Install, test, and commission commercial EV charging systems.

Assist with domestic EV charger installations when required.

Ensure all installations comply with current BS 7671 regulations and manufacturer requirements.

Inspection & Testing

Conduct electrical inspection and testing of EV charging installations.

Complete Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs).

Travel & Field Work

Travel regularly to customer sites throughout the UK, predominantly southern UK

Undertake occasional overnight stays where project locations require.

Manage workload independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.

Essential Qualifications & Compliance

To meet the latest Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) requirements,

applicants must hold:

Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services (or recognised equivalent).

Valid ECS or CSCS Card.

18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671, latest amendment).

Level 3 Award in the Requirements for the Installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Points (City & Guilds 2921-34, EAL, NICEIC or equivalent).

Level 3 Award in Initial and Periodic Inspection & Testing (City & Guilds 2391-52 or equivalent).

Full UK Driving Licence.

Experience & Skills

Essential

Minimum 2 years' experience working on commercial electrical installations and maintenance.

Experience working on three-phase systems.

Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

Experience installing and maintaining EV charging infrastructure.

Ability to work independently and manage site activities effectively.

Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and compliance requirements.

Desirable

Experience working with AC and DC rapid charging equipment.

Familiarity with OCPP platforms and charge point management software.

Experience with load balancing systems and smart charging technologies
