Description:

Our client, a world-leading design, engineering, and project management organisation, is seeking an Estimator or Senior Estimator for Energy, Power, and Nuclear New Build to join their dynamic team across multiple locations: Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle, and Durham.

Responsibilities:

- Aid in the development of benchmarking database and reporting process to provide timely and accurate advice to inform decision making.

- Deliver excellent client service on their commissions through quality assurance and regular client care.

- Represent the client whilst on commissioned roles within their client teams.

- Attend Customer meetings and negotiations, ensuring clarifications and presentations are available and reviewed ahead of requests.

- Provide professional advice on cost to stakeholders (including but not limited to Procurement Specialists, Cost / Contract Management Personnel, Estimators and Project Controls).

- Ability to work independently to produce estimates at various stages of a project using various methods of measurements and estimating software.

- Undertake estimating, cost planning & estimate assurance exercises.

Requirements:

- An excellent understanding of industry benchmarks / best practices and methods of measurements (e.g., RMM, MMHW etc).

- Quantity surveying skills and comprehensive understanding of the construction industry.

- Understanding of the Cost drivers that define a project and ability to convert engineering data into meaningful cost drivers.

- Ability to challenge colleagues in a constructive manner in order to achieve positive outcomes.

- Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present cost work concisely.

- Strong network within the infrastructure sector.

- Knowledge and experience of using estimating software packages and creating custom spreadsheets for cost monitoring and reporting. Power BI experience would be beneficial but not essential.

- Recognised expertise and experience in cost estimating.

- Experience within the Nuclear/Traditional/Renewable Energy Generation industry would be ideal, although it’s not essential and they would welcome any insights or learnings you can bring from other industries.

- Sound understanding of relevant AACE RP's and estimate classification systems. Demonstrate knowledge and application of each class level.

- Degree level in a construction related field or equivalent experience and qualifications.

- Desirable membership of RICS / CIOB /A. Cost E.

- Ability to inspire and motivate teams and unlock future talent for the business.

- Experience on significant Infrastructure projects, especially Major project/programmes of work experience.

- Proven track record of technical excellence, innovation, and exceptional service delivery in estimating across infrastructure projects in one or more of the following: rail and transport, heavy civils, energy and nuclear.

- Technical ability to challenge engineering teams and identify/cost efficient design solutions
