About the Company: The Civils & Infrastructure team at Ford & Stanley are proud to be working with a leading UK provider of design and build services to clients in the rail and transportation sector. The company is a principal contractor for UK mainline and metro railways across several disciplines, which include signalling, mechanical, electrical and power (MEP), telecoms, civil and structural engineering, maintenance, renewal, providing a fully tested and commissioned service, on both Network Rail and Transport For London controlled infrastructure. Offering either sector-specific services or a fully managed turnkey solution across a range of activities including project management, construction and civil engineering design, the company specialise in the design, installation, commissioning and testing of railway critical infrastructure. Their in-house expertise and flexible management approach, based on decades of engineering and delivering solutions, have resulted in them providing an award-winning service. They have successfully delivered a range of projects for a variety of clients from rail network operators through to major infrastructure organisations.
About the role: Due to workload and project pipeline, an experienced rail/civils Estimator is required to work within the bid team alongside an Electrical Estimator, Assistant Estimator and several Business Development Managers, where, as Estimator, you will be responsible for estimating and pricing tenders from drawings as they come in from the BDMs valuing from £50k to £10m+. Project types include Surface and sub-surface works, e.g., Groundworks, Piling/foundation, Substation works, retaining walls, steel frames, car parks, resignalling schemes, and station developments in collaboration with Network Rail and London Underground. You will also work closely with the P6 Planners who will support you with cash flow forecasting and project methodology. Your experience will be critical to the success of the role as you will need to ensure deadlines are met and targets are hit for mid-tender pricing reviews. You’ll also need to be able to manage your time effectively as you may start the week looking at a small design & build tender, then need to complete take-off estimates for a large resignalling scheme.
Who are we looking for?

Essential: Relevant degree in civil engineering
Essential: Solid stakeholder management skills (must be able to lead during meetings and tender reviews)
Desirable: Someone from an SME / Tier-2 background who understands how SMEs operate
Desirable: Experience using CANDY estimating software
