Description:

The Role

We are working with an established, independent ICP that is scaling up its estimating team. They specialise in heavy multi-million-pound substation builds, grid connections, and major industrial and renewable energy infrastructure schemes across the UK.

Operating in an agile, engineer-led environment without heavy corporate red tape, this role sits at the core of the commercial team. You will be responsible for leading bids and developing accurate estimates for complex high-voltage projects.

Key Responsibilities

*

Tender & Bid Ownership: Lead the end-to-end estimating process from initial enquiry to final submission for complex HV infrastructure schemes.

*

Technical Pricing: Price scopes involving 11kV, 33kV, and 132kV substation builds, grid connections, cabling, and associated civil works.

*

Risk & Commercial Review: Analyse tender documents, identify project risks, and apply value-engineering and mitigation strategies.

*

Collaboration: Work closely with design, engineering, and delivery teams to ensure estimates are buildable and compliant with DNO standards.

*

Supply Chain Management: Engage with key equipment suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and terms.

Candidate Requirements

*

Proven background in the UK power, energy, utilities, or substation engineering sector.

*

Deep technical familiarity with 11kV, 33kV, or 132kV substation and grid connection projects.

*

Background: Either a seasoned Estimator within the ICP/DNO space, or a DNO/ICP Designer with solid cross-over experience pulling together commercial estimates and bids.

*

Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.

*

Proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work autonomously in a collaborative team.

What’s on Offer

*

High-Impact Projects: Lead tenders on major renewable and power infrastructure schemes across the UK.

*

Autonomy: A senior position with direct influence on commercial strategy, free from corporate bureaucracy.

*

Flexibility: Based out of the Anglia office on a hybrid schedule, with full remote flexibility open for the right candidate.

*

Stability & Growth: Long-term career progression within an established, expanding independent business backed by 15+ years of market presence
