Estimator – Land Remediation & Enabling Works

Location: Midlands or Leeds area
Salary: Up to £50,000, depending on experience, plus package

We are recruiting an Estimator to join a specialist land remediation and enabling works contractor, supporting projects that transform brownfield land for future development.

You will prepare accurate, competitive tenders across remediation, earthworks and associated civil engineering works. Working closely with the Pre-Contracts Manager, project managers and engineers, you will help secure projects and ensure a clear handover to the delivery team.

Key responsibilities

*

Prepare detailed estimates for bulk excavation, soil and groundwater treatment, waste disposal, site restoration, ground stabilisation, civil engineering and groundworks.

*

Review tender documents, specifications and technical drawings, completing take-offs and building cost plans.

*

Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.

*

Attend site visits to understand project requirements, identify risks and assess delivery constraints.

*

Develop competitive bid proposals that meet client requirements.

*

Raise tender queries and explain pricing assumptions and revisions to clients.

*

Check estimates before submission to ensure accuracy and completeness.

*

Attend operational meetings and hand over tender information, budgets and key risks to delivery teams.

*

Identify opportunities to improve costs, methods and estimating processes.

*

Consider relevant environmental and safety requirements when preparing estimates.

Experience and skills required

*

Estimating experience within land remediation, enabling works or construction.

*

A relevant degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related subject, or equivalent practical experience.

*

Familiarity with NEC/JCT contracts and tendering portals.

*

Ability to interpret technical drawings, undertake take-offs and prepare cost plans.

*

Good understanding of construction methods, materials and plant.

*

Confidence using estimating software and Microsoft Office.

*

Strong numerical skills, attention to detail and commercial judgement.

*

Good communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team.

Knowledge of environmental requirements and relevant estimating qualifications would be advantageous.

Salary and benefits

Up to £50,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
