Estates Surveyor
Surrey
£400 per day
Initial 4-month contract
3-4 days per week in the office
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estates Surveyor to join a Surrey-based Local Authority on an initial 4-month contract.
Working as part of the Council's Estates team, you will support the effective management and development of a varied property portfolio, providing professional estate management and valuation advice while helping the authority maximise value from its assets.
Key responsibilities:
·Managing lease renewals, rent reviews, new lettings, assignments and surrenders.
·Supporting the management of the Council's commercial and residential property portfolio.
·Undertaking and supporting property valuations in accordance with professional standards.
·Negotiating property disposals, including preparing Heads of Terms and instructing solicitors.
·Supporting property acquisitions, including valuation, analysis and due diligence.
·Preparing and reviewing development appraisals.
·Supporting rent roll and service charge management.
·Maintaining accurate asset registers, estate databases, Asset Management Plans and property management systems.
·Appointing and managing external property consultants where required.
·Providing clear written and verbal property advice to senior officers, stakeholders and Councillors.
·Supporting and deputising for the Property Portfolio Manager where required.
·Identifying opportunities to improve value for money, investment performance and the overall efficiency of the Council's estate.
About you:
You will be an experienced Estates Surveyor with a strong background in estate management and ideally previous Local Authority or wider public sector experience.
You should have demonstrable experience across areas such as landlord and tenant matters, rent reviews, lease renewals, valuations, acquisitions and disposals. You will also need to be comfortable managing your own workload and dealing confidently with tenants, solicitors, consultants, senior officers and other stakeholders.
