Environmental Manager

Environmental Manager | Major Energy Infrastructure Project | North of Inverness | Outside IR35

Environmental Manager 6-Month Contract North of Inverness, Scottish Highlands Mid-September Start £600-£700 per day Outside IR35 (subject to final determination)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Environmental Manager to join a major energy infrastructure project in the Scottish Highlands on behalf of a leading engineering and construction contractor.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of a nationally significant project, leading environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives and stakeholder engagement across a complex construction environment.

The Role

Working closely with project leadership teams, client representatives and environmental specialists, you will provide strategic environmental guidance and ensure compliance with project requirements, legislation and industry best practice.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead environmental and sustainability activities across the project

* Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, licences and project requirements

* Support project teams in understanding and delivering environmental responsibilities

* Investigate environmental incidents and identify corrective actions

* Review environmental performance data and implement improvement measures

* Develop environmental awareness campaigns and sustainability initiatives

* Prepare and review environmental management plans, procedures and reports

* Manage environmental risks and ensure effective controls are implemented

* Support environmental permitting, consents and licensing activities

* Produce environmental performance reports and presentations

* Engage with clients, regulators and external stakeholders

* Support tender submissions and environmental award applications

About You

Candidates should have experience operating in major construction, infrastructure, utilities or energy environments and be capable of influencing operational teams whilst maintaining high environmental standards.

Essential Experience

* Strong environmental management background within major infrastructure, energy, utilities or construction projects

* Experience managing environmental compliance on site-based projects

* Environmental incident investigation experience

* Carbon reduction and sustainability reporting experience

* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Knowledge & Experience In

* Waste management

* Water management and pollution prevention

* Statutory nuisance

* Contaminated land

* Ecological mitigation

* Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG)

* Environmental permitting and licensing

* Planning consent and DCO processes

* Net Zero and carbon reduction strategies

Additional Information

* Approximate 6-month contract

* Mid-September start

* Site and office-based role

* Two-stage interview process
