What we need:

The GS2 Partnership are representing a major UK-based construction business dedicated to creating a sustainable future.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Environmental Manager to join our client's team and lead their environmental and sustainability initiatives.

What you will do:

As an Environmental Manager, you will be at the forefront of ensuring regulatory compliance, providing expert advice, and driving sustainable innovation within the construction sector.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive environmental assessments and develop plans in line with the environmental management system.
- Lead and mentor a team, including an Environmental Advisors and a Senior Environmental Advisors.
- Ensure all activities comply with legal requirements and protect the environment.
- Monitor, analyse, and report on environmental performance, ensuring the provision of accurate environmental data.
- Perform inspections and audits following ISO 14001, permits, and environmental legislation, addressing non-conformance and recommending improvements.
- Identify compliance trends and develop strategies to address them.
- Provide incident management support, promoting best environmental practices.
- Ensure all incidents and near misses are reported, categorized, and corrective actions are taken, leading investigations when necessary.
- Support the development and implementation of business initiatives, plans, and strategies related to environmental management.

What you will need to succeed:
- Significant experience in an environmental role within the construction or utilities industry, with proven leadership capabilities.
- A degree in environmental science or a related field is desirable, along with membership in an environmental professional body.
- Experience managing complex environmental projects, including data management, reporting, and conducting investigations.
- In-depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation relevant to civil engineering and the utilities industries.
- Flexibility and a valid driving licence, as travel to various sites across Kent and the Southeast is required.
