Environmental Health Officer - Southampton - FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY
£22 per hour plus benefits
Working hours - Monday to Friday days (37-hour week)

Contract role (3 months)
Job Description:
Undertake surveys, investigations and research; carry out inspections; keep records; prepare reports and legal notices, schedules and correspondence; and take appropriate action including enforcement action as may be necessary to deliver the environmental health service.
Inspect plans, investigate and consider any development proposals in relation to the environmental health service's functions and responsibilities, giving advice, making recommendations and taking appropriate action.
Provide expert advice to businesses and individuals to support compliance with environmental health legislation.
Undertake and participate in promotional and educational activities associated with the environmental health service.
Assist and deputise for the environmental health service manager, as required.
Participate in the formulation of working procedures and methods, work programmes, standards, and their monitoring and review
Essential Requirements:
Qualified environmental health officer with a relevant degree or diploma
Working knowledge of applying environmental health legislation and guidance in practical situations
Experience of inspecting premises and investigating complaints in accordance with food hygiene or health and safety legislation and taking appropriate enforcement action
Experience of investigation of infectious disease notificationsDesirables:
Achievement of chartered environmental practitioner status
Experience of enforcing statutory nuisance legislation
Experience of responding to planning and licensing consultations
Experience of LA PPC regulation
Registration with the environmental health registration board
