We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Environmental Advisor within the Environmental Team.

Please note candidates will need to have a current valid right to work in the UK to be considered for this role

What you'll be doing:

• Ensure compliance of works with Construction Code of Practice and other environmental requirements

• Development of EMS documentation and systems

• Development of environmental works solutions/mitigation and monitoring regimes

• Roll out of systems to ensure construction methodologies and programme meet Environmental Minimum Requirements

• Management of Environmental Opportunities and Risks, updating of register and progressing selected opportunity actions

• Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders and client representatives to ensure collaborative working relationships

• Understand the financial implications of decisions affecting environmental issues (e.g. waste costs, delays.) and seek to ensure best financial outcome for business

• Promote environmental awareness on the project through training, briefings, poster campaigns and other communication methods

• Report on the site’s environmental performance against the Project’s objectives and targets

• Manage and oversee monitoring equipment, collect, process and interpret data (e.g. water, dust, noise, waste)

• Manage onsite Environmental Site inspections, highlighting any bad and good practice to the relevant teams and Senior Management

• Record and report all incidents to all relevant parties and instigate corrective actions required

• Liaises with the community liaison officer regarding complaints from third parties on noise, dust and or other environmental issues

Experience Required

• A sound understanding of environmental legislation and principles of environmental management systems

• Understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively to obtain the best outcome

• Good interpersonal and communication skills

• Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisation skills

Our work with HS2

Balfour Beatty VINCI have been awarded a 90km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Overall, we will be building the following across all our sites:

•42 viaducts totalling over 11km

•66 overbridges

•More than 35 cuttings reaching over 30km

•56 culverts

•66 embankments reaching over 33km

•Building four motorway crossings requiring box structures

•Six interfaces with the existing rail requiring both dive-under and overbridge structures

Balfour Beatty VINCI is working with a range of organisations to design and build 90km West Midlands stretch of HS2 - Britain’s new high speed railway. Our work is essential to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham as well as continue their journey up to Manchester. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join us - we’re at peak construction with work really ramping up on a broad range of assets including bridges, tunnels and viaducts. Plus you’d join 9,000 people across 72 nationalities working on this exciting section of HS2 across the region.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Environmental Advisor within the Sustainability and Environmental team. This role will be based on site in Coleshill. The sublot is situated between Birmingham and Coventry covering a 6km stretch, running north from the River Blythe to Coleshill, crossing three major highways - the A45, M42 and M6. The assets in this sublot will take 45-50 million hours to construct. Initial work includes the construction of a service road and improvements to the A45. This section will extend to the M42 twin boxes including the construction of three earthworks assets – two embankments and one cutting.

Role description:

Reporting to an Environmental Manager. Responsible for helping to initiate and then maintain systems to ensure compliance with contract requirements and company standards and targets.

Experienced required:

A good understanding of environmental legislation and principles of environmental management systems.
Understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively to obtain the best outcome.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisation skills.

About Balfour Beatty VINCI

Balfour Beatty VINCI is a long-established joint venture between two powerhouses for the delivery of critical infrastructure across rail, transport and other iconic projects in the UK and beyond. We started working together over 30 years ago to deliver the Channel Tunnel, as members of the TransManche Link consortium.
